General Jeong Bal was a great General with patriotic loyalty who died honorably during a battle to defend the nation’s gate Busanjin-seong (fortress) against Japanese invaders during the Imjinwaeran (Japanese invasion of Korea in1592). To honor his patriotic loyalty, the Busan city government erected this statue at 1148, Choryang 3-dong, Dong-gu, in March 1977.
