Between 1902 and 1926, a reclamation project in the sea in front of Busanjin resulted in new land measuring 144,000 pyeong (117.6 acres). Busanjin Reclamation Corporation was established in 1926 to reclaim a vast area of sea in front of Sujeong-dong and Beomil-dong and this commemorative stone was raised in front of the Dong-bu police station and also taken care of when the project was completed.
