Detailed Description
Imjinwaeran’s first battle field was Busan and General Jeong-Bal had fought courageously and died honorably. There is a saying if we only had at least 10 patriotic general like him, the situation would not have been that severe with the pain and suffering they went through.
Junggongdan is a temple commemorating Chungjanggong General Jeong-Bal’s patriotic spirit located in Jwacheon 1dong. Every year on April 14th of the lunar calendar is the day Busanjin fell and people prepare an alter to commemorate the Generals’ patriotic spirit.
Junggongdan was built outside the South gate of Busanjin in February 1646, the 54th year since the Imjinnyun. Military Officer Lee, Kwang-Guk was ordered to do so by the government. Successive generations of Busan military officers handled the ceremonies annually every April 14th of the lunar calendar and villagers continued to give ceremonies with government financial support after the political reform in 1894 (Gopohgyeongjan).
