The Busanjin Il Shin Girls High School building was built by Australian missionaries in 1905 as the first modern women’s educational institution in Busan and Gyeongnam province with a relatively well-preserved circular shape and proportional and homogeneous appearance, and as the start place of March 1’s Independence movement’s flag was first raised it has been as a highly valuable cultural asset for historic and educational purposes. Donggu received 600 million won of national funds for repairing the roof, classrooms, walls, and stonewalls and repair was finished on June 23, 2006 contributing for the continuous preservation of our province’s modern cultural assets.
