Detailed Description
The expression techniques of the icons and the wavy lines of halos are using the style forms of the late Joseon Dynasty’s religious paintings, and the composition and arrangement also followed the 19th century’s religious painting’s basic forms. Decorative clouds using red and yellow are also handed down from the popular form after late 19th century. However, the expression of yellow patterns or words in red sticks are special features of monk Wanho’s work and from the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century the expression techniques and colors of cloud patterns shows the styles of religious paintings. This painting is highly valuable cultural asset data for the research of 20th century’s Chilsusngdo icons as well as to understanding the painter Wanho’s style.
